A buttery, vanilla cookie base topped with caramel and rich chocolate ganache. Show someone you love them with this decadent Valentine’s Day dessert!
So about two weeks ago, I mentioned that we would like a bit of snow. It was nearing the end of January with not a flake in sight. The kids were anxious to get out and play.
Well, clearly I spoke too soon.
We now have six feet outside our door.
What is there to do but bake?
My favorite dessert in the world is cookies. I’d chose them over ice cream (oh the shock and horror), or fudge or cake or any of the amazing choices in the dessert world. And my favorite of the cookies is chocolate chip and vanilla butter.
However that would make me the most boring food blogger ever.
So I thought about it and decided, what if I just pile up some more great stuff on top of a cookie? Wouldn’t that be the best idea ever?
First I took a 1/2 batch of vanilla butter cookies and pressed it into a 9 inch tart pan. After that baked and cooled, a layer of caramel was poured over it. Lastly, a rich dark chocolate ganache tops the whole tart.
Cookies, caramel and frosting? I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
