Puff pastry wrapped around brie and balsamic pepper fig spread. Baked until golden brown and serve with crackers or crostini for a perfect Valentine’s Day appetizer.
I was sent complimentary Orchard Choice Products for review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Do you have big plans for Valentine’s Day? I’ll be honest, the thought of going to a restaurant and dealing with the crowds does not appeal to me. It’s on a Saturday this year to boot!
Fortunately it can be just as romantic to eat at home. Not only will you save money, but you can have seconds! My husband and I adore appetizers, and there is no reason to skip extra courses at home. Fig baked brie will look (and taste) impressive, but it is so easy to whip together.
Have you ever tried a fig spread? I usually shy away from fruit spreads because they are overly sweet. Figs in general are lower in sugar than other fruits, and I found the fig spreads to have the perfect hint of sweetness.
Orchard Choice fig spreads come in 4 delicious flavors; Orange, Port Wine, Organic Mission, and Balsamic Pepper. I enjoyed trying the different flavors that I wouldn’t have necessarily paired with figs. Balsamic pepper seemed like the natural choice to pair with cheese.
Brie is the obvious choice for cheese bake en croute. And while you may have had this classic appetizer before, the balsamic pepper spread adds a whole new dimension of flavor. Flaky pastry, warm melty brie and figs are wonderful spread onto a cracker or some crostini.
Not feeling up for making a brie en croute? Figs can be used on a simple cheese platter as well. Dried figs go well with strong cheeses such as blue, goat, or brie. If you are more of a dessert person, dried figs also go well with chocolates and nuts.
Orchard Choice wants to send one of my readers a 4 pack of fig spreads, as well as a bag of dried figlets! Enter in the Rafflecopter below.
