We decided to paint inside our house after seven years. When we moved in the house was just built and the entire interior freshly painted. White. Eggshell. Lovely non-washable eggshell paint. Yeah, with three kids that worked out great.
So why did we wait 7 years to paint if our walls were clearly an embarrassing collection of fingerprints and other unidentifiable marks? We were totally paralyzed by choosing a color. In our previous house we had made some, shall we say.. bold.. color choices, which looked far more appealing in the design book than it did on our walls. I think the experience left us slightly scarred.
Which is why I love food. I can try something new without risk of having to live with it for years. Like when I realized I was tired of rolling my graham crackers thin, and wanted something sturdier and crunchier. Less rolling means less time making them. Using my original recipe I shaped the graham crackers thicker and baked them a bit longer. Voila, the perfect graham cracker to scoop up a dip.
Keeping it simple, I melted a bit of milk chocolate and swirled it into some plain yogurt. After making the graham crackers from scratch, I needed to keep it simple.
Certainly dark chocolate would also work. Or both. Or you could just dip them into flavored yogurt and keep things even easier.
See the backdrop of my newly painted wall? It’s called “coffee”, a beautiful neutral canvas in washable semi-gloss.
Yes, I’ll happily live with it for many years. Plus seriously, every inch of my muscles hurt from all the painting….maybe that’s the real reason we waited so long.
